Remember Def Jam Rapstar? No? You'd be forgiven for it slipping right under your radar, although it had quite a showing at Eurogamer in 2010. It was the rap world's reaction to Sing Star and, if you still have a GAME or Gamestation nearby, you can pick up a copy for below a fiver.
So despite selling modestly, the developers are now going to be wrapped up in a legal battle with music-publishing giant EMI, who claim that 54 tracks in the game infringe on their rights. This isn't as open and shut as it seems, EMI don't fully own any of the tracks their suing over. Instead, they own small percentages of tracks from other publishers. They want $8 million in damages.
In short, if the game was profitable before it probably won't be for long, with this lawsuit well and truly putting stop to any hopes of a sequel.
