If you'll allow a brief digression. In the commentary track on the original American Pie DVD, one of the film's directors opines that the inclusion of a monkey makes any movie better. The same, I would argue, is true of Eva Green. The French actress, who plays Angelique Bouchard in Dark Shadows, has only ever enhanced any movie she's been a part of. The Eva Green Principle can only benefit this gothic comedy/soap opera.

Tim Burton directs a project seemingly tailor-made for him, based on the cultishly loved television soap opera created by Dan Curtis. Mashup novelty author turned big-time screenwriter wrote the Dark Shadows script, and he also contributed to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the big screen adaption of his novel, produced by Burton.
Johnny Depp leads the cast as the vampire Barnabas Collins, and he's joined by Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jonny Lee Miller, Helena Bonham Carter, Gulliver McGrath, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Jackie Earle Haley.
Dark Shadows debuts in theaters nationwide on May 11th.
