Sony’s New Music Service Detailed

It’s been made public that Sony plans to create a music service for its Vita system. Today, it was also discovered that the name of this service will be “Music Unlimited”. Being that Sony is not only a game publisher, but a music one as well, this could prove to be a fruitful endeavor for the company. It also explains – to some degree – why Sony has been withholding some of its music from iTunes.

The service will feature two different payment plans, each using a pay-per-month model:

“Basic Plan” – This one will run you $3.99 a month, and with this you will have access to ad-free radio channels and music purchases. There will also be a cloud-based media library from which you can play your music directly from a far-off computer.

“Premium Plan” – This plan costs the user $9.99, but offers more bang for your buck. You’ll have access to the full, on-demand music library published by Sony, as well as all of the rewards discussed in the previous plan.

Another interesting tool this service will give you is the ability is to record any station or channel you are listening to, save what plays, and listen later. You can even play the recorded tunes back when you are outside of 3G/Wi-Fi zones!
