Thirty-year-old Michael Grimm's rich soul filled voice and captivating acoustic guitar captured television audiences as they watched glued to America's Got Talent episode on Tuesday, June 1st, 2010.
Grimm, a Bay St. Louis and Waveland, Mississippi native, experienced heartache at an early age. After his parents' divorce, he and his 5-year-old sister were taken in and watched over by his grandparents, who were church goers and also country music fans. Looking for comfort after his parents' break-up, Michael turned to music and developed a blended musical style that he would describe as "positive country Christian." Michael's grandmother encouraged his musical talent and believed that he would be noticed if he performed in the local Southern Mississippi bars. So, she started chaperoning him to bars when he was an adolescent.
