True Blood on HBO True Blood on HBOSynopsis (Soul of Fire - Air Date: September 4, 2011)

It's up to Sookie and her powers to keep Bill, Eric and Pam from harm. While Jesus casts a spell, Lafayette is totally absorbed by the past. Sams gets even with Marcus and Alcide deals with Debbie head on. Andy's foray into the forest is filled with deep, overwhelming emotion.

Full Recap (spoilers)

Eric, Pam, Bill and Jessica arrive at Ye Olde Magic Shoppe with their flamethrowers and various automatic weaponry. Inside, most of the Wiccans make it pretty clear they want to blow this popcorn stand, and when an out-of-her-gourd Casey starts to confront Martonia, Martonia send a knife into her chest. Martonia looks a little disturbed, and out comes Antonia. "Marnie just puked a bitch out," Lafayette marvels. No one else can see Antonia, so he tells Jesus and Sookie that she and Marnie are having words. Antonia: "You murdered an innocent, one of our own. Evil has blossomed in you. Our time together has come to an end." But Marnie performs a spell binding Antonia to her, and back inside Antonia goes. Marnie -- now that it's clear Antonia wants nothing to do with her, let's revert to Marnie -- looks like she's got a little heartburn. Some Wiccan Prilosec, please!

Jason shows up outside the shop and tells the armed vamps that they can't blow up the shop, Sookie's in there. "I told her to stay away!" Bill says. Seriously? Since when does she listen to you? Bill and Eric both agree to abort, and Jason also demonstrates the protective spell surrounding the shop. While they're plotting their next move, the two vamps under Marnie's spell attack. The big African-American one is dispatched quickly and the white female finds herself under Bill's heel.

Inside the shop, Jesus says that Casey still has a pulse. "You see? I'm no murderer!" Marnie crows. He convinces Marnie to let him try to save her, and ropes Lafayette into carrying her into the bathroom. Once inside, he tells Lafayette that Casey is dead, and he's going to use her body to force Antonia out of Marnie's.

Holly and Sookie try to talk Marnie into ending the standoff peacefully, but Bill calls out to her. "Show your face, witch. Hiding behind magic like a coward does not become you." Marnie takes Sookie outside and begins chanting, prompting her vamp slave to attack Bill again, but Bill throws her at Marnie. The vamp gets caught in the forcefield and melts. Marnie, smirking, tells the vamps that she harnessed the sun for the forcefield. Bill and Eric tell Marnie to let Sookie go, but Marnie tells them she'll exchange Sookie only for their lives -- or rather, their deaths. Bill and Eric agree, to Pam and Jessica's horror. Eric goes down on one knee so Bill can execute him, but Pam has had quite enough of this. She grabs the flamethrower and shoots it toward Marnie. The flames hit the forcefield and expand, showering everyone on their side with fire, including Jason, who gets badly burned. Luckily there's Jessica with her magical healing supersexy blood. Jason drinks up.

Marnie and Sookie return to the shop. "There's no negotiating with them," Marnie concludes. "They see it as a weakness. I am not weak." In the bathroom, Jesus is preparing a spell and warns Lafayette that this is not going to be pretty. "You may hear and see things that you may not want to," he says. Lafayette: "That ship has (bleeping) sailed." Jesus takes the knife out of Casey's chest, then sticks his finger in the wound, makes a mark on his chest with the blood, then sucks the blood from his finger.

Marnie waves her hand over the pool of blood left over from Casey's knifing. She sees Jessica giving Jason blood outside, and Eric stalking around. Show me the future, she commands, and she sees herself on the ground, a bullet hole in her forehead. Time for action! She orders everyone into the circle, but only Roy responds. "They have no regard for our lives," she beseeches them. Everyone except Sookie slowly walks over to form the circle. "I wish for everyone to leave here alive," Marnie tells Sookie. "I don't guarantee it." Sookie begrudgingly joins hands and the spell is cast.

Outside, the four vampires begin to move against their will toward the forcefield. It's perhaps the most unintentionally hilarious thing I've ever seen on this show (and that includes all those orgy sequences from season two). The vamps actually look like those Weather Channel reporters caught up in hurricane-force gales, doing a sort of a slo-mo hokey-pokey, only they're all wearing black leather. Jason is trying to pull them back to no avail, but he manages to get a message to Sookie to stop the spell, and inside Sookie lets loose her fairy fireball hands, and the spell is broken.

I know Sookie established that she has no control over her fairy fireball powers, except she does, doesn't she? Whenever someone she loves is threatened -- so why couldn't she use it on Marnie at any of the numerous opportunities she's had?

Pam uses this moment to apologize to Eric for the whole flamethrower incident, but he does not want to hear it. "Get out of my sight before I kill you," are his exact words.
true-blood-recap-season-4-episode-11-marnie-fire-antonia.jpgHBOAntonia (Paola Turbay) escapes the clutches of Marnie (Fiona Shaw).

Marnie accuses Sookie of betraying her, and surrounds her with a ring of fire. As Sookie cowers and screams, Lafayette tells Jesus to speed it up a little bit. Jesus starts panting and then gets all bat-eared and demony. Marnie gets a whiff of the magic Jesus is working, but it's too late. He forces Antonia out of Marnie's body. Antonia clasps her hands together and dissipates. The ring of fire disappears, the forcefield is broken. Eric and Bill rush inside. Sookie quickly tells them that everyone was being held hostage by Marnie. But Roy jumps in front of Marnie. "You want to get to Marnie, you gotta go through me!" Is he really that stupid? Yes. Eric neatly rips his heart out. He flicks off a strand of viscera and sucks some blood out of the aorta right in front of Marnie, then returns to Bill's side. "No one lives forever," she yells. "Not even you." (God, Fiona Shaw's accent is all over the board now.) Bill lifts his gun and fires. Marnie falls the ground, her body riddled with gunfire, a bullet hole in her forehead.

At Marcus' motorcycle shop, Sam and Alcide are trying to get Marcus' whereabouts out of his were pal when Luna shows up. Apparently Marcus picked up Emma from school without permission and disappeared. Marcus is over at Alcide's house -- his bedroom to be specific -- trying to convince Debbie (who is wearing a tank top, bra and panties) to take off with him and Emma. Apparently the two have gotten very close since, um, yesterday. He tells her he'll get her off V and she'll help him raise Emma and give him the children Alcide doesn't want. (Part of this conversation is happening in front of Emma, ridiculous.) While Marcus is occupied with Debbie, Emma manages to call her mother, and Alcide sees the phone number and realizes they're at his house.

Alcide and Sam burst in on Marcus and Debbie, who immediately insists that nothing happened. See? Her panties are still on! Sam aims a gun at Marcus. "Just like a shifter to hide behind a gun," Marcus sneers. "You all come from common stock." Sam puts the gun down and says he's willing to go mano a mano, no weapons, no shifting. Debbie makes a move for the gun, but Alcide throws her back against the bed.

Sam and Marcus are fighting. At one point, Marcus gets Sam in a headlock, then Sam has his knee on Marcus' neck, slowly squeezing the life out of him. "You are pathetic and weak and small," he says. "Live with that." Sam gets up and leaves Marcus gasping for air on the floor. Then, stupidly (that appears to be a theme for this episode), he turns his back on the rest of the room, giving Marcus the chance to grab the gun. But Alcide throws himself across the room and tackles Marcus, wrestling him to the ground and -- oopsies! -- breaking his neck. Debbie shifts into crisis mode, trying to figure out how to fix this, but Alcide has had enough. "I abjure you," he tells her, and from her reaction, we know this is very, very bad. "I see you no longer. I hunt with you no longer. I share flesh with you no longer." Who says men can't have that uncomfortable break-up conversation?

Sam goes outside and finds Luna and Emma, who runs up to him and hugs him. "Where's my daddy?" she asks. Sam just gives Luna a look, and Luna holds Emma.

Oh yeah, and Andy meets a beautiful fairy in the woods who climbs on top of him and makes him vow to protect her before letting him make love to her. Whatever. When Andy finally makes it back to the Bellefleur mansion, he tells Arlene about what happened. "We made love, and I was good at it!" he says, like a kindergartener showing off a particularly fine finger-painting. Arlene tries to convince him it's just the remnants of the V in his system.

The episode closes with Lafayette comforting Jesus in bed. Jesus feels bad about Marnie, but Lafayette tells him that Marnie had it coming to her. "You galloped in and saved some folks tonight," he says. "Never (bleeping) forget that." Jesus falls asleep, and Lafayette is lying there, looking up at the ceiling, when he sees Marnie's spirit hovering above him. Oh crap.
