Torchwood on StarzSynopsis (Rendition - Air Date: Friday July 15, 2011)
Their flight to the United States turns into a battle for Jack's life. Meanwhile, Esther has to realize that she and Rex have become a target alongside Torchwood.
Full Recap (spoilers)
A police escort takes Rex and his prisoners Jack, Gwen and her family to the Heathrow Airport where a plane is waiting. Rex takes Jack's vortex manipulator though Jack assures him it's harmless. When Rex discovers his fellow agent Lyn there, he approaches her to make it clear that he is running the operation. Meanwhile, Gwen worries about Jack's wound on his arm, but he assures them that he is fine and not dying anytime soon. When Rex comes back from his conversation with Lyn, he announces that he will take Torchwood with him, and only them and orders to take Rhys and the baby back to Wales.
On the plane, Rex asks for vodka when their flight attendant Danny can only offer him aspirin for his pain. Lyn reminds Rex that they are on duty, but he just asks her what could happen during the flight and leaves for the bathroom where he experiences flashbacks from his almost fatal accident. In the meantime, Jack tries to start a conversation with Gwen who tells him that every time he turns up, it always goes wrong.
When Esther receives a mail from Rex telling her that he is on his flight back with Torchwood, she goes to her boss Friedkin to tell him that she would like to stay on the case. He promises to keep her offer in mind. When she is gone, he starts an internal search on her.
Back on the flight, Gwen is angry with Jack because he showed up so late that she nearly got blown up. Rex interrupts them to ask about Jack's vortex manipulator because he can't figure out what it does except bleeping. Jack once again asks to get it back, but Rex refuses once again. Gwen wants to know why Rex forced them to come with him instead of just asking. He explains that he doesn't believe the two actually know something about the miracle, but there is some kind of connection to them that will help them figure out the miracle. Jack asks if one of them is investigating morphic fields, pointing out that the amazing fact about the miracle is that it happened to everyone at the exact same time. Jack then adds that the wrist wrap is bleeping because it found low sodium levels in Rex' blood. Rex laughs in disbelieve and leaves while Lyn who overheard their conversation sends a message to Friedkin to ask if they investigate morphic fields. He takes his phone, but then reaches for another red phone.
Meanwhile, questions are brought up about the miracle's consequences regarding the Earth's resources. Oswald Danes, who watched the report while waiting for an interview, takes a bag and starts packing food laid out for guests explaining that given the circumstances he needs to take food where he can find it.
Friedkin receives an answer on the red phone that says "remove" which he passes on to Lyn. Rex calls Dr. Juarez to offer her examining the last mortal man on Earth in exchange for painkillers. Before she can answer, several accident victims are brought into the E.R. She realizes now that they don't have to expect any deaths anymore, they have to reverse the order of treating patients. She orders to treat minor injuries first to get them out, then treat the severe injuries. Dr. Juarez is unhappy that their dean of medicine isn't there to make these kind of calls and learns that their dean was called to an emergency meeting for the administrators of all the local hospitals. Dr. Juarez is upset because she doesn't believe they know what's going on and asks where the meeting takes place.
Jack asks Danny for something to drink who answers he is not allowed to talk to him. Lyn steps in and assures him that they can have water. She follows Danny to the board kitchen and sends him away to ask Rex if wants a drink. When he is gone, she puts something in Jack's coke, and smiles when he has emptied his drink.
Oswald Danes is being interviewed where he is asked if he wants to address the people who are upset that he walked free. However, Danes refuses to say anything about it at all and explains that he thinks it's best that way. When the interviewer confronts him with a picture of his victim, Danes breaks down and apologizes for his crime.
When Danes and his officer enter the elevator to leave the building, a red-headed woman joins them. She introduces herself as Jilly Kitzinger and adds that she works in PR, convinced that he needs her. She explains that his perfomance on TV moved the people and got him trending on Twitter with the hastag "forgive." She hands him her card, but he tells her he doesn't need her and throws the card away.
Dr. Vera Juarez arrives at the panel where she joins a discussion. She tells them that people have become "too alive" and realizes what one doctor figured out who keeps mentioning more antibiotics: The human race has become germ incubators.
On the plane, Jack starts feeling sick and Rex takes him to the bathroom. Jack fears someone has poisened him and adds that he never had to build up resistance to any bug on Earth. However, Rex doesn't share Jack's fears and calls him a hypochondriac. In the meantime, Esther sees two men searching Rex' office, then she discovers someone at her own computer. She uses another desk and tries to log in, but she has been erased as a user, when she receives a phone call about a wire transfer about $50,000 to an account in her name. She searches her colleague's bag, finds the I.D., switches it with her own and is able to leave before Friekin's men can find her.
Gwen is upset about Jack's condition and accuses Danny of poisening Jack with the drink he handed him. When Danny answers he didn't touch the drinks, Gwen realizes Lyn was eager to supervise it and asks Rex to search her. Rex finds pills. Lyn claims it's just medicine, so Gwen asks her to take one of the pills and Lyn admits it is indeed poison, but refuses to tell what poison. Rex cuffs Lyn, while Gwen hands Jack the pills who determines that it's Cyanide. Rex calls Vera for help who suggests chelation. She turns to the panel where they find a way to make a concoction to save Jack. They frantically put the concoction together, but when Gwen tries to inject Jack, Lyn frees herself from the handcuffs and kicks the syringe out of Gwen's hand. Gwen gets really angry, punches Lyn back and knocks her out. Danny finds the syringe and Gwen finally injects Jack. He starts screaming in agony which they expected, their concoction works. Rex cuffs Gwen again and calls Friedkin who tells him that he will send security force to the airport.
At the panel, they realize that the immortality didn't stop the aging process which makes them wonder what kind of "miracle" they are experiencing. Jilly enters the room and listens to Vera who argues that they have to start manufacturing painkillers immediately to help the suffering people who just can't die.
Outside the building where the panel takes place, Vera takes a break to smoke a cigarette and finds a message from Rex, saying "bring me drugs." Jilly approaches her, asks to borrow a cigarette and starts praising Vera for her speech at the panel. Jilly introduces herself and hands Vera her card. When Vera recognizes the PhiCorp logo, she refuses to take it, but changes her mind when Jilly makes her aware that a stockpile of drugs already exists, but they can't access it and Vera has to contact her senator about it at once. Vera even asks Jilly for drug samples.
When they get off the plane, Rex hands his prisoners over to Friedkin's men, one of them subtly hands Lyn keys for the handcuffs. Rex receives a call from Esther who informs him what happened at the headquarters. She warns him about the ones responsible waiting for him at the airport and guesses they don't only want to take out Torchwood, but everyone who knows about them as well. Meanwhile, Rex gets a message from his bank that tells him $100,000 were deposited in his account. From his answers Esther realizes that they are already with Rex and tells him in which car she will be waiting outside the airport for him. He ends the call and uncuffs Gwen and Jack, claiming there is one piece of legislation to make it a proper rendition. They attack the men, take them out and Gwen and Jack run. Lyn attacks Rex who twists her neck.
Jack and Gwen run into Rex who gives Jack his vortex manipulator and asks them to come with him because he has a car waiting outside the airport.
Outside, they find Vera and Esther. Vera hands Rex the drugs, then Gwen, Jack, Rex and Esther get into Esther's car. Lyn appears, walking backwards because of her twisted neck. For a moment, they stop in front of Lyn, then Esther pulls the car back and drives around her. She wants to know what is going on and Gwen welcomes her to Torchwood.

Product Description The BBC’s Torchwood is such a hit on U.S. television, breaking ratings records for BBC America and acclaimed by critics as “sci-fi with attitude” (Chicago Tribune) and “one of TV’s most entertainment of sci-fi romps” (USA Today), that it is being remade for U.S. cable network Starz. Timed to coincide with the premiere of the new series on Starz, BBC will bring together the complete, original UK series in this comprehensive box set. Separate from the government, outside the police, beyond the United Nations, Torchwood sets its own rules. Led by the enigmatic, ever watchful Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman, Doctor Who, Central Park West), the Torchwood team delves into the unknown and fights the impossible.
