The Forger marks the directorial debut of Lawrence Roeck and is written by Carlos De Los Rios. Hutcherson leads the movie as Joshua Mason, but Roeck assembled a supporting cast that includes Heroes star Hayden Panettiere, Spider-Man 2's Doc Ock Alfred Molina, screen legend Lauren Bacall, Billy Boyd of The Lord of the Rings, Battlestar Galactica Cylon Tricia Helfer, and Dina Eastwood of Eastwood and Company.

Joshua Mason (Hutcherson) is a troubled 15-year-old who is
abandoned and finds himself in Carmel, California. Being an incredible
art prodigy, Joshua gets introduced to the word of art forgery. While
there, he befriends a retired artist named Annemarie Sterling (Bacall) who recalls the early days of Carmel artists and their legacy of artistic integrity.
