Weyland is the predecessor to Weyland Yutani, the corporation familiar to fans of the first three Alien films, the corporation that sent the Nostromo to LV-426 and created the androids Ash and Bishop, played by Ian Holm and Lance Henrikson in Alien and Aliens. Weyland's inveolement in Prometheus and the viral effort itself kicked off in February with a TED Talk from the future given by Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland.
The Weyland-centric viral campaign continues today with this two-and-a-half minute David that originally debuted at Mashable.
And then there's a poster for the super-creepy yet almost endearingly childlike David 8 from Prometheus Project, where you can find all manner of lesser Prometheus goodies.

Fassbender not only plays an early android in the Alien universe, he's also set to reunite with director Ridley Scott on Counselor, the Cormac McCarthy-scripted tale of drugs and violence in the contemporary American Southwest that's set to begin production this summer.
But back to Prometheus, the Alien quasi-prequel that sees Scott returning to science fiction for the first time since Blade Runner in 1982. As the above viral demonstrates, Scott will at the very least be touching upon thematic content familiar to fans of that classic Philip K. Dick adaptation. The screenplay is courtesy of Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, the Lost executive producer who contributed to this undeniably cool viral effort.
Fassbender plays a supporting role in the film's ensemble, a cast that also includes Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Sean Harris, Patrick Wilson, and Benedict Wong.
Scott's first 3D film hits theaters on June 8th.
